My family and I took a trip out to Connecticutt last fall to attend a wedding. While we were there we spend an evening with a friend of my wife. As we left a restaurant to head back to our motel, my wife hopped in her friend's car. I was to follow in my van. There were two issues with this. First, I had no idea how to get back to our motel and so I was dependent on the GPS in my van. The second issue was that the GPS had been acting up on the trip. As my wife and her friend pulled out of the parking lot suddenly my GPS began to malfunction. I panicked. I was about to lose the people who knew how to get to the Motel and the guide I was depending on wasn't working. I was lost. Fortunately for me the GPS came back on just in the nick of time. But it reminded me that using a GPS as my guide is only good if it works.
Do you have a good guide for your life? What are you using for your life's GPS? God tells us that we have a guide for life in His Word, the Bible. Psalm 119:105 says: "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." God gives us direction for our lives as we read the Bible. So what is your guide for life? We have such a guide in God's Word and it is much more effective than my GPS.
